Content MarketingWe recently talked about writing guest blog entries on other sites and the tremendous impact that it can make on your content marketing strategy in driving more qualified traffic to your own blog and website. According to many social media experts, having the opportunity to write guest blog posts is the most important way to build authority for your brand on the Internet. Now that you’ve come to the conclusion that you need to write some guest blog posts on other sites, how do you go about finding these opportunities? KISSmetrics shares some helpful tips in its Ultimate Guide to Guest Blogging:

  • First, you need to identify other industry related blogs that share content that is relevant to your area of expertise. When researching these blogs, not only should you confirm that the content is addressing the needs and interests of your target audience, but also that the blog has an engaged group of readers. Take note of the comments, likes, and shares that the content may or may not have received. A strong blog will also have an active social media presence.
  • Perform some searches on Google to find some guest posting opportunities. For the best results, type in an industry relevant keyword followed by “guest post,” “submit a guest post,” “accepting guest posts,” or something along those lines. Ideally, these should direct you to a blog’s guest post submission page or to a blog in your industry that has accepted guest blog entries in the past.
  • Think of some of the most reputable blogs in your industry. Chances are they are participating in some type of guest blogging program, so it could be a great opportunity for your own blog if you were to reach out to this blogger directly to request the opportunity to make a post. This is why it’s also a great idea to build relationships with other bloggers because even if you don’t know a particular blogger, you may have a friend that could make a warm introduction for you.
  • Sign up with My Blog Guest, which is an online community of guest bloggers. It’s free to do, and you may have some luck in finding some industry related blogs that are accepting guest posts.

All in all, finding opportunities to write guest posts on credible, industry related blogs can be one of the most instrumental ways that you can promote your own blog and grow your readership.

  • The key on top of all of this is to make sure that the content that you are putting out is top-notch. Too many sites are putting up the same information in different ways, and if you’re going to be guest posting on a site, it’s really important to make sure that you’re actually contributing to the niche that you are in and expanding it further.
